I have officially filed for the race for Montebello Unified School District Board of Education.
As your Board representative, and as a parent, I have worked diligently to ensure that every student has the personal and academic tools required to achieve success; these tools include values and ethics reflective of our community. Success is not measured in money, but by the positive impact our students have on society.
I am proud to say that the Montebello Unified School District has provided me the educational foundation necessary to be a productive member of society. Having attended Gascon Elementary, Eastmont Intermediate, and Schurr High School, I am a lifelong residents of this District. As such, it has been an honor to serve my community as a member of the Board of Education for the last year.
Throughout my fifteen year career in the public sector as a Computer Systems Administrator, (County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services), I know first hand the value of continual learning. In a field that changes constantly, one must learn or be left behind with an obsolete skill set. I believe the District must ensure that every student has the learning skills necessary to achieve their goals and meet the evolving demands of tomorrow’s job market.
My wife Yorling, (BBA – Vanguard University), and I have served as instructors and directors of our church’s Children’s Department for the last seven years. We are well aware of the challenges faced by students and their need for guidance and structure. As a father of two, I have taken a personal interest in assuring that all students receive the best instruction possible. If elected, I will continue to perform my duties to the best of my ability to ensure that this District continues providing excellent public education to our community.
I Pledge To Continue Advocating For:
- Safe and friendly school environments for parents, teachers, and students;
- Maintaining quality sports, arts, and afterschool programs;
- Higher academic standards and closing of the achievement gap;
- Effective use of taxpayer dollars in the classroom;
- Prudent fiscal management and a balanced budget.
